PLA

PLA is 'basic.' Ours has 22 colors and a spec sheet.

PLA is the color canvas of the CHCKX catalog. Twenty-two colors hang on this wall, from Warm White and Ice Cream to Bambu Green, Chinese Red, and a translucent PLA Crystal, every one built on the color formulas CHCKX engineers for vivid, fade-resistant prints. When the first job of a print is to look good, this is the spool you load.

It is also the calmest material in the lineup, and that is a feature. Low warp, no enclosure, forgiving temperatures on any stock printer. Each spool is mechanically wound and inspected, dried for 24 hours, then vacuum-sealed with desiccant, so layer one behaves the way the sample photo promised.

USE-CASE GUIDANCE

Where it earns its keep.

Shelf pieces that stay vivid

For figures, busts, and architectural models, PLA gives the cleanest surface per dollar in the catalog. The color formulas are engineered to resist fading, so a piece printed in Chinese Red still reads Chinese Red after a year on the shelf. Print at 0.12 to 0.16 mm layers and let the color do the finishing.

Multi-color builds without paint

With 22 colors sharing one temperature profile, you can split a model into parts, print each in its own color, and assemble a finished piece with zero sanding or priming. A tolerance of ±0.03 mm keeps press-fit joints predictable from spool to spool.

First spools and classrooms

PLA forgives the settings a new printer ships with: no enclosure, low bed temperature, minimal warp. If you are outfitting a classroom or your first machine, start here and move to PETG once parts need to survive the outdoors.

Print tips

  • Start at 210 °C nozzle and 70 °C bed, then tune in 5 °C steps.
  • Keep part cooling at or near 100% for crisp overhangs and bridges.
  • Re-seal an opened spool with its desiccant; dry PLA prints glossier and strings less.
  • Print PLA Crystal slower and 5 °C cooler for clearer translucent walls.

FAQ

Buyer questions, straight answers.

Is CHCKX PLA good for a first printer?

Yes. It runs on stock settings between 200 and 220 °C with a 70 to 80 °C bed, needs no enclosure, and warps very little. It is the material we would hand a beginner.

Will the colors fade?

The line is built on proprietary color formulas engineered for vivid, fade-resistant prints. Indoor display pieces hold their color. For parts living in direct sun year-round, we point you to PETG instead.

Where is the TDS?

The spec table on this page carries verified figures from our own listings, with industry-representative rows clearly marked. Batch-specific datasheets are available on request through the wholesale form.

How does a spool arrive?

As 1 kg of 1.75 mm filament, mechanically wound and inspected, dried for 24 hours before packaging, and vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
